Starcare Charity Clinic

Starcare Charity Clinic .

He who has health has hope; and he who has hope has everything” – an Arabic proverb.
Urbanization and living life on the fast lane has resulted in poor health hygiene & food habits,
leading to various health issues. Access to healthcare still remains a challenge for those who cannot
afford basic healthcare. The need of the hour is thus a two pronged approach – first to bring quality
healthcare services to doorsteps of the needy and second to promote healthcare awareness.

In such a scenario, Starcare Hospital, Seeb is proud to introduce “Charity Clinic” a healthcare services
delivery system, the most practical mechanism.  The mission is to ensure that the financially
underprivileged have access to affordable quality health care.  Starcare Hospital is making rapid
strides in the health sector in the Sultanate of Oman. Charity Clinic will offer no-cost specialist
consultation at Starcare Hospital Seeb, demonstrating our community commitment.

It is the larger vision of Starcare Hospital of being a national voice, promoting quality health care for
all communities around the country and working together to build a healthy Oman.
This is a unique hospital program that seeks to address problems of mobility, accessibility and
availability of primary healthcare with a special focus to offer free consultation services from
Orthopedics department. This Charity Clinic will function once a week on every Friday. Individuals
suffering from knee & joint pain, back pain, sports injuries, etc. can make use of this OPD service
between 9 am to 12 pm. Charity Clinic is a safety-net health care hospital that utilizes a doctor/staff
model to provide a range of medical solutions in Orthopedics to economically disadvantaged
individuals. Often, uninsured patients have difficulty finding a physician to treat them outside of the
hospital. Starcare’s Charity Clinic will provide follow-up care to patients after discharge, thereby
reducing the likelihood of a readmission.

Dr K M Harkrishnan, Medical Director says “For health systems that are eager to experience these
benefits, it was worth exploring whether a charity clinic could be viable in the Sultanate of Oman.
Our Hospital in Seeb, is really an ideal place, because we have a team of experienced and reputed
Doctors and medical staff.  They have a lot of ties to community. This Charity Clinic must have a close
relationship with the community to be successful. Faithful to our tradition, we provide the highest
possible standard of care and treatment in a professional and compassionate manner to every
person who avails of our services.”

A hospital-supported clinic assists in creating a healthier community, a stronger hospital, a more
satisfied medical staff, while simultaneously assisting its community needs and in creating
operational efficiencies that contribute to the well being of the patient and overall healthcare.
Starcare’s Charity Clinic says it all.

“Any hospital that develops a charity clinic in conjunction with local businesses and the government,
realizes significant new community support and involvement,& adds Dr K M Harkrishnan, Medical
Director.
